Trucker wants questions answered

GREENVILLE – A local independent truck driver took the opportunity to air his grievance about parking to the Greenville City Council Tuesday night.

Theodore Wilson went to the Council, which hosted a community meeting at Fulwiler Elementary School, to complain that the Greenville Police Department had asked him two weeks ago to move his tractor rig from his home on Wayside Drive. He said he complied with the request, but he’s been parking his rig behind his house on a slab he poured about seven years ago.

Wilson said he thought he was complying with city rules when he built the slab, but Ward 3 Councilman Lee Owen said despite numerous discussions several years ago about where truckers could park their rigs, the city never changed rules prohibiting trucks on residential streets.  From the Delta Democrat Times, Greenville, Mississippi

Parking is a big issue in trucking, especially when it involves whether or not you can park your truck on your own property or near your home.  I do hope this issue is resolved and this trucker and many others will have a safe place to park when they are home.
