Man Confesses After GPS Clue Tips Police To Whereabouts During Arson

NEW BRIGHTON, Pa. — Police said a Beaver County trucker’s GPS device was the key clue that prompted them to charge the man with setting his New Brighton home on fire.

Police said Thomas Reinhardt, 48, used nail polish remover to set the fire just before 3 a.m. on Saturday.

Reinhardt initially claimed he was parked at a rest stop in Cranberry Township about the time the fire broke out. But police said GPS records from Reinhardt’s trucking company showed his rig was parked about 100 yards from his house at the time.

Police said he confessed when confronted with the evidence.

Reinhardt is currently jailed on $150,000 bond. From WTAE

He probably should have turned off the GPS or unplugged the Qualcomm, don’t you think? Or – just not burned his house down…..
