Agents find more than 3,300 pounds of marijuana in truck

EL PASO, Texas — Customs agents seized more than 3,300 pounds of pot found hidden in a shipping container, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection official said Tuesday.

The drugs, hidden in the false compartment inside an otherwise empty sea shipping container, were found Monday afternoon, Chief CBP Officer Rick Lopez said.

Lopez said the drugs were found after agents working at an international bridge near downtown El Paso X-rayed the truck, which the driver claimed was hauling empty containers. More from the Houston Chronicle

The driver, a Mexican national, was not charged and returned to Mexico — I’m sure he’ll be back….
