Thieves steal truck, diesel fuel from construction site

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Authorities say thieves at a highway construction site over the Memorial Day weekend stole a water truck, emptied it and used it to steal about 2,500 gallons of diesel fuel.

The president and owner of Kingfisher-based United General Contractors says his company lost the $65,000 truck and about $8,700 worth of diesel fuel during two thefts.

Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Kelly Marshall says the crime is the first of its kind seen by that agency, but she fears the rising cost of gasoline and diesel fuel could lead to similar thefts. More from
