I-75 southbound in Manatee County may be closed for weeks

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — The southbound lanes of I-75 near Prime Outlets in Ellenton remain closed following Wednesday’s fiery crash.  The lanes probably will not be re-opened for some time to come.

Troopers re-opened the northbound lanes at 11:30 Wednesday night.

Witnesses say a tanker went off the interstate after trying to avoid a car that had spun out of control. The tractor-trailer crashed onto U.S. 301 below and burst into flames.

It’s believed slick roads from an afternoor shower contributed to the crash.  More from ABCActionNews.com

The driver of the truck is listed in critical condition at Tampa General Hospital.  Be alert to new traffic patterns while driving through the area.
