Oklahoma – Culprit sought in stone-tossing injury near Locust Grove

LOCUST GROVE — Authorities are looking for a person who tossed a grave marker off a Cherokee Turnpike overpass early Thursday. The incident critically injured a tractor-trailer driver near Locust Grove in far northeastern Oklahoma.

The 25-pound gray marble grave marker and flower vase — labeled only with the letter “S” — crashed through the windshield of a tractor-trailer driven by Gerald Webb Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper Betsy Randolph said. Webb was hit by the grave marker and was listed in critical condition at a Tulsa hospital, authorities said.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Lt. George Brown said Webb suffered a broken arm and a collapsed lung in the incident, which occurred about 1 a.m. Thursday three miles west of Locust Grove, which is about 50 miles east of Tulsa. More from

According to the report, no one has been arrested in the incident.  In Oklahoma, throwing objects off an overpass is punishable by fines up to $10,000 and 70 years in jail.

  1. If they catch the idiot, and I hope they do, hanging him FROM an overpass wouldn’t be a bad idea either…
