Tanker, 2 Other Trucks Hit By Gunfire On I-95

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating after three tractor-trailer rigs — one a gasoline tanker truck — were hit by gunfire on Interstate 95 in St. Johns County overnight.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at least one bullet hit a gasoline tanker truck. About 50 gallons of gas were spilled before firefighters could plug the leak.

The tanker truck was driven to a gas station at the state Road 207 exit to wait while its 3,000-gallon load could be transferred to another tanker.  More from

The story further states that the area around the interstate is used for hunting – any of our Florida readers know what hunting season it is in Florida?  Perhaps open season on tankers?
