Truck loaded with pot busted on I-95 – Connecticut

BRIDGEPORT — A cross-country drug run came to an abrupt end early this morning when State Police charged three men with transporting marijuana in a stolen tractor-trailer.

Lt. J. Paul Vance, the State Police spokesman, said the trio was arrested about 1:30 a.m. on Interstate 95 at the Greenwich weigh station.

They will face numerous charges when they are arraigned in Superior Court later today. In addition to the 55 pounds of marijuana police said they found in the cab, it was discovered the driver had his license suspended and a large knife was found in the cab.

The tractor-trailer was driven to Troop G headquarters here, where the truck will be searched for more contraband. Vance said the trailer portion of the truck apparently was stolen in Arizona, and investigators are trying to determine if the tractor was stolen, too. The trailer is filled with pallets of lemonade, troopers said.

The driver was identified as Danny Turner, 49, of Lancaster, Calif. He was accompanied by Robert Turner, 39, also of Lancaster, and Barry Diaz, 25, of Covina, Calif. It’s believed that Danny and Robert Turner are related, police said.  More from the ConnPost

The story is still developing…..
