Professional, Polite, Prepared to Kill

Honesty in doubt, King drops out of race

For a week, Land O’Lakes Republican Jim King contemplated abandoning his campaign against U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite after he suffered a serious back injury.

Now, he plans to quit his campaign — but apparently for a different reason.

A St. Petersburg Times investigation into King’s nebulous background found he made inaccurate claims about his professional background and his time with the military in Afghanistan in 2001. The evidence prompted the cancellation of his campaign Wednesday.

In recent interviews and community meetings, King has identified himself as a “semiretired professor in the medical field,” but never provided specifics.  More from TampaBay.com

ATAW was shocked to read this article tonight, when a call came asking if Mr. King had won his primary race.  This story from TampaBay.com was the result.

We do not advocate or tolerate liars, cheats and frauds.  Mr. King apparently deceived many during his race for Congress.  King’s website has been removed and calls and emails have not been returned.  He deceived our veterans, his contributors and this writer, as well as many other reporters and commentators who covered King and the Florida race.  I invite King to dispute or verify the accusations brought against him.   We’ll be following this case as it unfolds.  I have no doubt the FBI, FEC and other interested parties will be investigating.

Murder/Rapist Jose Medellin Executed

Update 8/5/08 – Murder/Rapist Jose Medellin Executed – pronounced dead at 9:57 p.m. Medellin, 33, was condemned for participating in the 1993 gang rape, beating and strangling of Elizabeth Pena, 16, and Jennifer Ertman, 14. He and five fellow gang members attacked the Houston girls as they were walking home on a June night, raped and tortured them for an hour, then kicked and stomped them before using a belt and shoelaces to strangle them. Note: One of Medellin’s fellow gang members, Derrick O’Brien, was executed two years ago. Another, Peter Cantu, the ringleader of the group, is on death row. Two others, Efrain Perez and Raul Villarreal, had their death sentences commuted to life in prison when the Supreme Court barred executions for those who were 17 at the time of their crimes. The sixth person convicted, Medellin’s brother, Vernancio, was 14 at the time and is serving a 40-year prison term.  (Thanks to our friends at ARRA NewsService for the update)

This is good news – this scum deserved what he got and I’m proud of Texas for standing up for justice.  It is not up to the “World Court” to tell the United States how to implement our laws.   Considering what he did to those young girls, he should have been sent through the fast lane to the execution chamber.

God Bless Texas!
