Vermont School Sends Students Out of Classroom to Say Pledge of Allegiance

Fox News’ Megyn Kelly takes on athiest Michael Newdow. It is my not so humble opinion that if you do not like the Pledge of Allegiance, it is YOU that should leave the classroom. This is the United States of America and this is OUR pledge. The children who wish to “opt out” should be the ones tossed from the classroom during the recitation – not the other way around.

Another reason to homeschool – we say the Pledge.

  1. Mr. Newdow did not say that people were not individually allowed to believe what they wanted…..he stated that the GOVERNMENT had no right to state what people should individually believe (via the Constitution).
This would be akin to forcing students to pray five times per school day facing Mecca. It would be unconstitutional and therefore be outlawed.
And you are right, NOT forcing my child to say the pledge or ostricizing her for not doing it, is a wonderful reason to Home School – – which is one of the reasons that we do.

  2. If a child or the parent does not wish to say the Pledge of Allegiance to the country which they live, than it is they, not the children saying the Pledge, that should leave the classroom.
By saying “one nation, under God”, which is part of our Pledge, you are not advocating a particular religion.
Kudos for you for homeschooling – we homeschool because of the secular, socialist slant and growing hostility to Chrisitanity in our government funded schools.

  5. mr. newdow is just wrong, the poll that should be asked is how many children that are in shcool are athiest. this country was founded based on are believe in GOD. as vet i was called to serve my country in vietnam and did so believing God would bring be back home again. if mr. newdow does not like the way are constitution was written may he should find a new country.

typical conservative. first to cry about the 1st Amendment, last to observe those rights when it comes to other people. yer not a conservative; yer a freaking communist.

Rev. Docherty passed away the other day. You have this screed up from that news station operated by a foreigner but you have nothing paying tribute to the man who was the driving force behind putting God back into our Pledge of Allegiance. Why is that?
