Texas Police Seize $250K of Cocaine in Pursuit

SAN ANTONIO — A high-speed police chase on the south side of Bexar County ended with a major drug bust, netting investigators about $250,000 worth of cocaine, police said.

The multi-agency investigation, including the Drug Enforcement Agency, San Antonio Police Department and other area law enforcement agencies, culminated when officers saw a man in his 40s involved in a drug transaction about 5:45 p.m., on Military Road near Interstate 37, SAPD Lt. Scott Bell said.

“They suspected this vehicle was involved in the transportation of a large quantity (of drugs),” Bell said. “Obivously, their observations ended up being correct.”

When officers tried to arrest the man, he fled in his vehicle, prompting a brief chase, Bell said. Police did not release the name of nor the charges the arrested man might be facing, but Bell said he expected they would include federal charges.

The chase ended along Interstate 37 about a mile south of Highway 181.   From
