$260,000 pot bust starts year right

PEOTONE TOWNSHIP — Will County’s Gang Suppression Unit started 2009 by intercepting a large drug shipment.

Sheriff’s spokesman Pat Barry said officers seized almost 115 pounds of cannabis from a semi-trailer passing through the county early Friday.

“The street value would be estimated at $260,000,” he said.

The bust occurred around 12:45 a.m. as officers were conducting a “criminal interdiction” patrol on Interstate 57.

“They set up to watch semi-tractor trailers driving late at night or acting suspiciously,” Barry said. Full story HERE
