$463K in drugs seized in DeSoto

State transportation authorities have arrested a Texas trucker on drug charges after they seized more than 460 pounds of marijuana in his tractor trailer at a DeSoto County inspection site.

According to the Mississippi Department of Transportation, its enforcement officers spotted the tractor trailer pulling through the I-55 northbound inspection site around 8:30 a.m. today. The truck had two company names on it, prompting officers to stop the driver and inspect his paperwork.

An officer “become suspicious of the driver’s actions and answers to the officer’s questions,” MDOT’s statement said. The department said the officer then obtained permission from the driver to search the trailer.  More HERE

Getting their goat

Police in Nigeria have arrested a goat on suspicion of car theft. According to a spokesman for the Kwara state police, a group of vigilantes spotted a pair of crooks trying to break into and steal a Mazda 323. But when the vigilantes attempted to stop the robbery, the car thieves fled. “They pursued them,” the spokesman told Reuters. “However, one of them escaped while the other turned into a goat.” Police say they are holding the animal until they can either scientifically prove the suspected car thief morphed into the hoofed animal or until the goat’s owner comes forward to claim ownership.  From WORLD Magazine

I can only imagine the goat’s sentence in court – death by roasting….

Border agents seize $1M in ecstasy

BUFFALO, N. Y. — U. S. border agents at the Peace Bridge have seized $1 million in ecstasy hidden among bushels of blueberries in a transport truck bound for Florida.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers searched the truck Friday after it crossed the bridge to Buffalo.

During the course of an inspection, officers used gamma-ray technology to generate a high-resolution image of the truck’s contents, which revealed an anomaly in the roof of the truck’s sleeper cab.

Ten vacuum-sealed bags filled with 48,400 ecstasy tablets were found in the cab. “CBP’s non-intrusive inspection technology assists our officers in preventing terrorist weapons and contraband, including illegal drugs from entering our country while facilitating the orderly flow of legitimate trade and travel,” said James Engleman, CBP director of field operations in Buffalo.

Charged with importation and possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance is Leon Johnson, 41, of Brampton.   From the St. Catherine’s Standard

Money? What Money?

By Alan Burkhart

I’ve been reading this morning that frugal Americans are hurting the economic recovery efforts by saving our money instead of spending it. Last time I checked, Americans were holding the line on spending because we don’t have nearly as much (if any) discretionary spending ability as before. Money is tight and times are hard.

What are we supposed to do? Shall I take the cash I’m holding for my next house payment and buy a new Nintendo? Shall I skip the water bill in favor of a couple of 12-packs of Miller Lite?

Here’s an idea: If the government and the various economic “experts” around the country think I need to go blow some money on consumer goods, then take that so-called stimulus money – from $800 to $900 billion depending on who you listen to – and send us all a nice tidy check. That’d get things rolling again a lot faster than spending $150 million on honeybee insurance or $650 million on government employees’ cars or $650 million for TV converter boxes.

According to what I’ve seen, just slightly over ten percent of the stimulus plan would actually have the potential of boosting the economy. The rest is nothing more than pet projects and pork. Is this the fiscal responsibility promised by Barack Obama? Is this the Change We Can Believe In? I was under the impression that Barack Obama was against wasteful spending and huge government debt. Oh, wait… I heard that in a campaign speech. I keep forgetting that campaign promises don’t count after the election. You’d think that after all these years I would know better.  More HERE

The Captain’s AMERICA Radio Show For Feb. 3rd

LISTEN HERE

Tune in today to hear ‘The New Media Journal’ Managing Editor, Frank Salvato join ‘The Captain’ as they point out the ‘PORK’ found in the
Economic Stimulous Package. What you will hear IS factually correct
and it will astound you!

Of course we have the latest from FOX News and follow up Frank
Salvato’s interview with Ryan Mauro from the Christian Action Network.
Ryan is a National Security Researcher and the founder of World
Threats.com

What you will hear from Ryan is factually correct and entails
discussion about Jamaat ul Fuqra, an Islamic Terrorist Group who has a
reported 35 facilities inside the United States…

This may seem unfathomable but the evidence is irrefutable as Sheik
Muburak Gilano professes on his Solders of Allah Video, “We are
fighting to destroy the enemy. We are dealing with evil at its roots
and its roots are in America,” says the Sheik…

This is MUST hearing for all those and especially those who ‘doubt’
that they ‘walk amongst us’…

Today’s show will wake your conscience up and hopefully you’ll realize
we can’t make ‘changes’ to our National and Homeland Security that
will make us any less vigilant in the fight against Global
Terrorism…

Get in on knowing what others won’t unless they tune in to hear “The
Captain’s AMERICA” Radio Show, heard around the World and across
America…

God Bless our brave Military men and women keeping all of us FREE and
SAFE!

Ex-Continental Express exec convicted

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The former president of Continental Express Inc. has been found guilty of defrauding the trucking company and its owner out of $872,000.

A federal jury acquitted Kelly Wooldridge of credit card fraud Thursday but convicted him of mail fraud conspiracy after hearing testimony for over a week, including descriptions from his co-defendant Todd Tiefel, the company’s former chief financial officer.

U.S. District Judge Susan Webber Wright will set a sentencing date after receiving a pre-sentence report in about two months. Wooldridge faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Continental Express was based in Little Rock but was sold in December to Celadon Trucking Services Inc. of Indianapolis, leading to the layoff of more than 250 employees.  More HERE
