Eminent Domain and our future Chinese masters

By the Editor-in-Chief – CentrePointNews

The blogosphere is alive today with talk and rumour about the Obama Administration’s alleged deal allowing the Red Chinese to secure their loans to the United States with eminent domain rights.

Under the provisions of the deal reported by both the DC Republican Examiner’s Bill Dupray and radio host Hal Turner, the Obama Administration has given the Chinese a blank check to seize American property as collateral if the U. S. defaults on its loans from the Chinese.  More HERE

Like the editors at CentrePointNews, we are trying to either confirm or deny this story.  Are we being sold out to the Chinese or is this some great conspiracy circulating on the ‘net?   We’ll check back with CentrePointNews for the latest updates.

Obama and the Treatment of Terrorist Suspects

By Fred Burton and Ben West – from Stratfor.com

U.S. President Barack Obama signed an executive order Feb. 1 approving the continued use of renditions by the CIA. The order seems to go against Obama’s campaign promises to improve the image of the United States abroad, as renditions under the Bush administration had drawn criticism worldwide, especially from members of the European Union. The executive order does not necessarily mean that renditions and other tactics for dealing with terrorist suspects will proceed unchanged, however.

Obama came into office promising changes in the way the United States combats terrorism. One of these changes was a new emphasis on legal processes and a shift away from controversial methods of treating terrorist suspects, like rendition, harsh interrogation techniques and secret prisons. The Obama administration can and will roll back some of these tactics, as demonstrated by the president’s Jan. 22 order to close the detention center at Guantanamo Bay. But some will continue. Money? What Money?

By Alan Burkhart

I’ve been reading this morning that frugal Americans are hurting the economic recovery efforts by saving our money instead of spending it. Last time I checked, Americans were holding the line on spending because we don’t have nearly as much (if any) discretionary spending ability as before. Money is tight and times are hard.

What are we supposed to do? Shall I take the cash I’m holding for my next house payment and buy a new Nintendo? Shall I skip the water bill in favor of a couple of 12-packs of Miller Lite?

Here’s an idea: If the government and the various economic “experts” around the country think I need to go blow some money on consumer goods, then take that so-called stimulus money – from $800 to $900 billion depending on who you listen to – and send us all a nice tidy check. That’d get things rolling again a lot faster than spending $150 million on honeybee insurance or $650 million on government employees’ cars or $650 million for TV converter boxes.

According to what I’ve seen, just slightly over ten percent of the stimulus plan would actually have the potential of boosting the economy. The rest is nothing more than pet projects and pork. Is this the fiscal responsibility promised by Barack Obama? Is this the Change We Can Believe In? I was under the impression that Barack Obama was against wasteful spending and huge government debt. Oh, wait… I heard that in a campaign speech. I keep forgetting that campaign promises don’t count after the election. You’d think that after all these years I would know better.  More HERE

Here Comes The BARF

Why creating a Bad Asset Repository Fund for Wall Street’s toxic assets could make banking even sicker.

First there was TARP. Get ready for BARF.

They haven’t named it that yet, but calling a federal “bad bank” to soak up toxic assets the Bad Asset Repository Fund would be truth in advertising at least. Despite Washington’s renewed enthusiasm for the idea, there is a strong case to be made against it.

The problem boils down to bank profitability, which is depleted, and the industry’s ability and willingness to lend. Offloading the worst assets into an aggregator fund would still leave banks with loan books under pressure from rising defaults. Banks would still be forced to build reserves at a time when their earnings power is reduced, and that earnings power would only shrink more with a smaller asset base.  More HERE

We at ATAW realize conservative capitalists will have a difficult time stomaching BARF and present the official Presidential BARF bag – originally created for the Inauguration and debuted at BlogmeisterUSA, it looks like we’ll have to have a large supply of BARF bags around….

The New Dictator In Washington Will Change America

By JR Dieckmann

The Democrats’ answer to government overspending and overextended credit is more overspending and overextended credit. Obama now wants another trillion dollars in stimulus money to use as he sees fit. The federal government is trying to buy the free enterprise system, lock, stock, and barrel from the private sector, so that politicians can run and control it just like they do in Communist countries. They are forcing bailout (buyout) money on companies and banks who don’t even need it or want it – to gain control of those companies and banks.

In response to the mortgage meltdown and economic recession, a majority of voters voted for Democrats, the very same people who caused the problem that started with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and liberal mortgage lending policies of the Clinton administration. The Democrats’ solution to the problem is more of the same liberal spending and lending policies that got us into the financial mess in the first place. We all will be suffering the consequences of that vote.

Exclusive: Common Sense or Frog’s Leg Pie?

With the new administration nearly running out of ink signing this bizarre executive order and that outside-the-mainstream executive order, I have concluded that what is missing in President Obama’s program is good, middle-American common sense.

It is not surprising that a career politician – whose professional claim to fame is “community organizer,” which is nothing more than a dressed-up label for a Left-wing activist who seeks to revolt – has an agenda that defies such sensibility. As a mom concerned about her child’s future, a wife concerned about her husband’s job and a daughter of a legal immigrant who struggled, working two jobs, to raise five children without government assistance, I have a few suggestions for the new president. None of these will guarantee me a high ranking political appointment but they might bring this man back down to earth as we know it, here in the United States.   Read the rest of my latest article on FamilySecurityMatters HERE
