FBI agents executed a search warrant at a North Side residence this morning, marking a possible break in the investigation into last month’s vandalism at synagogues and Jewish schools on the North Side and in Lincolnwood.
Agents searched a home at 6029 N. Artesian Ave. about 7:30 a.m., according to FBI spokeswoman Cynthia Yates.
The warrant was executed as part of an ongoing investigation. More from the Southtown Star
PEOTONE TOWNSHIP — Will County’s Gang Suppression Unit started 2009 by intercepting a large drug shipment.
Sheriff’s spokesman Pat Barry said officers seized almost 115 pounds of cannabis from a semi-trailer passing through the county early Friday.
“The street value would be estimated at $260,000,” he said.
The bust occurred around 12:45 a.m. as officers were conducting a “criminal interdiction” patrol on Interstate 57.
“They set up to watch semi-tractor trailers driving late at night or acting suspiciously,” Barry said. Full story HERE
Transportation stakeholders were caught off guard Wednesday by news that retiring Rep. Ray LaHood of Illinois, a centrist Republican who held a seat on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee in the 1990s, will be the next Transportation secretary.
A senior Democrat confirmed Wednesday evening that LaHood would be President-elect Barack Obama ’s choice. Obama has a news conference scheduled for Thursday, but it is unclear if he will announce LaHood’s selection then. Obama’s transition team did not comment. Transportation Department nominations move through the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee.
Although LaHood has a reputation for crossing party aisles and supporting infrastructure investment, transportation advocates had been hoping for someone with a long resume in the sector who could elevate infrastructure issues to greater national prominence. In some transportation quarters, the choice was met with confusion at best, and disappointment at worst. More HERE

Can the trucking and transportation industries afford this snake in Republican clothing?
Shady Crony Syndrome: An affliction often suffered by politicians . Symptoms include hanging out and doing business with people you wouldn’t want to introduce to your mother and then prevaricating when asked direct questions about your associations.
An AP story on Wednesday carried some shocking information to those of you who get your news from the “mainstream” media. Jeremiah “G** d*** America” Wright; William “Blow Up the Capitol” Ayers; Emil “Nepotism” Jones; Rashid “I Heart the PLO” Khalidi; and Fr. Michael “We’re Gonna Snuff Gun Shop Owners” Pfleger.
Let’s not forget the flavor of the week: Gov. Rod “How Much?” Blagojevich, who has been accused of – among other things – trying to “sell” Barack Obama’s Senate seat to the highest bidder. Full article HERE

RUSH: Pop quiz time. Pick the month, pick the day, pick the year when the teachers union pronounces that all classrooms must hang a portrait of President Obama. No answer. I don’t know what the answer is; only time will tell. Okay, Snerdley is making his guess: January 20th, 2009. Pick the month or the day — well, the month, day, and year when the teachers union pronounces all classrooms must hang a portrait of President Obama, The One. I think the last time this happened was FDR, when you had to do it.
Now, Snerdley told me an interesting story here at the top-of-the-hour break. He got a call from a very close friend of his last night, who was very, very alarmed at what he had heard on this program yesterday. And what he had heard on CNN last night. He was very, very concerned. One of Snerdley’s best buds, who loves Snerdley, wants Snerdley to continue to have a place to work (laughing) is worried that they’re going to come after me at the Obama campaign. Now, stop and think of that when you hear the rest of this. He’s worried the Obama campaign’s going to come after me because I happened to say that Rahm Emanuel and Obama are “Chicago thugs.” Snerdley’s buddy called him up and said, “Now, you understand, you’ve gotta tell Rush that the word ‘thug’ has racial connotations.”
Snerdley, according to his version of the story, came flying out of his couch, phone-in-hand-at-ear and said, “Is every criticism racial these days? I’m getting sick and tired of all this political correctness and these speech codes and people trying to intimidate other people into shutting up. Every word is racially connoted. ‘Thug,’ when did it become racial? And when did Rahm Emanuel become black?” I called him a Chicago thug, too. I thought the word “thug” actually could be traced back to union thugs. You know, I have been talking about union thugs for the longest time I’ve been hosting this program. All of a sudden now “thug” has racial connotations? So here’s a guy worried that Snerdley is going to lose his job because there isn’t going to be a job because Obama’s going to come after me, and that that’s not thuggish. More from Rush Limbaugh

Elected officials in Chicago made international news last week by proposing to create a public high school for gay, lesbian and transgender students.
The Pride Campus of the School for Social Justice is set to open with 600 students in 2010, and its curriculum promises to “teach the history of all people who have been oppressed and the civil rights movements that have led to social justice and queer studies.”
Yet no American journalist covering the presidential race has queried the Chicago-based Sen. Barack Obama about this radical development in education reform: a key issue to which the young senator has committed much of his public life and all of his executive experience. More from RealClearPolitics

Back in the 60’s, while we still had statesmen holding public office, our streets were relatively safe. We never locked our doors at night.
Nowadays, with idiots holding seats in public office… it’s Katie bar the door!
It is astounding to me that the Supreme Court would have to affirm the intent of our founders reasoning for making the Second Amendment an individual right, where self defense is necessary and essential to a citizen’s well being. Continue reading
