Fighting Fire with Fire

By Alan Burkhart

In a recent article posted at, Phillip Butler makes a case for the arrest of George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld for crimes against the U.S. Constitution. Butler is a veteran military pilot and was a POW in Vietnam for 2,855 days. Since his repatriation in 1973, he has earned a PhD in Sociology and according to his author bio, “he mentors business and organization leaders and is a community activist.”

His article is well-written and thorough, using the Third Geneva Convention and its rules regarding the interrogation of POWs as the basis for his assertions. In the article, Butler accuses the Bush Administration of “gross attempts to institutionalize torture.” In addition to being well-written, the article is also gravely out of step with the times.

Article 17 of the Third Geneva Convention states:
“No physical or mental torture, nor any other form of coercion may be inflicted on prisoners of war to secure from them information of any kind whatever. Prisoners of war who refuse to answer may not be threatened, insulted, or exposed to any unpleasant or disadvantageous treatment of any kind.”

In a war between two legitimate nations, each with a well-organized and identifiable military, this is an acceptable practice. Unfortunately, such is not the case in the war being waged against the free world by Islamic fundamentalists.

Holy Land Foundation defendants guilty on all counts

A jury on Monday determined that the Holy Land Foundation and five men who worked with the Muslim charity were guilty of three dozen counts related to the illegal funneling of at least $12 million to the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas.

The unanimous verdicts are a complete victory for the government, which streamlined its case after a mistrial last year, and worked hard to carefully educate jurors on the complex evidence presented in the massive case. Guilty verdicts were read on 108 separate charges.

The prosecution victory is also a major one for the administration of President George Bush, whose efforts at fighting terrorism financing in court have been troubled, even though the flow of funds seems to be effectively shut down.  Full article HERE

CAIRing for Terrorist Groups

By Joe Kaufman | Tuesday, November 04, 2008

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has a long terror-related history. The group was created in 1994 as a part of the Hamas infrastructure inside the United States. The group has had a number of representatives deported and/or convicted for terror-related activity. Even today, the group is named by the U.S. Justice Department in a federal Hamas fundraising trial.

As well, CAIR has had many of its leaders refuse to call certain terrorist organizations “terrorist organizations.” Some CAIR reps have even outright stated that these groups were not terrorist groups. One of these individuals is Omer Subhani. He is on record as denying that Hamas and Hezbollah are terrorist organizations. He has denounced me for suggesting the obvious reality that support for Hamas means support for terror:

“[Joe] Kaufman has his latest article posted on the front page of FrontPageMag… In that article he claims to expose CAIR’s true feelings about Hamas… [T]he obvious idiocy of Kaufman’s allegation is that if you say Hamas is not a terrorist organization then you’re some sort of terrorism sympathizer or supporter.” (Omer Subhani, Islam, Muslims, and America, “Kaufman’s Idiotic Assertions,” March 12, 2008)

Now, Subhani has made a disturbing declaration regarding the PLO and one of its former spokesmen – just another bullet point in the infamous CAIR chronicles.  More from FrontPageMagazine

Where Does America Draw the Line on Consorting with Terror Groups?

By Jeffrey Imm
According to the U.S. State Department’s Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) listing, Hamas is a terrorist organization. It is a federal crime to provide “material support or resources” to a designated FTO. But the Washington Post, the New York Times, at least one of the Holy Foundation Trial criminal, and Mr. Jimmy Carter do not accept that Hamas is a terrorist organization. Mr. Carter is with the Hamas terrorist group and seeks to influence American foreign policy in regards to that group. As Mr. Carter embraces members of the Hamas terrorist group, what are the consequences of American tolerance of those who defend, consort with, and provide a platform of legitimacy for terrorist groups?

Many are outraged by the actions of those who provide legitimacy, defense, and a platform for Foreign Terrorist Organizations such as Hamas. But until such individuals and groups face federal legal consequences for their actions, the emboldened supporters of terror groups will only continue to grow, undermining American law and American foreign policy.  More from
