Rush’s Speech at Hillsdale College Churchill Dinner in Washington, DC

RUSH:  Larry told me I have five minutes.  [Laughter]  Thank you all very much. This receiving an award like this is beyond my comprehension. [Laughter] You always check yourself when there’s a camera around. Please bear with me, folks. I’ve got a case of bronchitis and a little fever, and I’m going to try to suppress my coughing spasms.  But I see Fred Thompson.  I don’t know how it’s possible.  Let me tell you.  I was in the air flying up here from Florida at about 4:30 and I’m over Raleigh, North Carolina, well right between Raleigh and Durham.  And I’m —   well, I want to be fair with the nondiscrimination stuff, so — [Laughter] ead and listent to the full speech HERE

And I’ve got Fox News on.  And there’s the Cavuto show and Fred Thompson is on Cavuto show and he was in New York, right?  So he’s in New York at 4:30.  He’s not dressed like he is now.  And I just recently got here.  I landed at Dulles about 5:50.  It took an hour and 35 or 40 minutes to get in here because the tree lighting ceremony and my temporary security guy, who is an order of fries short of a Happy Meal, got the route all wrong.  [Laughter]

He had to get all the way to LaGuardia.  And I assume you shoveled it to National?  And you didn’t hit traffic, it’s amazing.  Somebody told me you were going to be here and I said,”He can’t be, he’s in New York.” I was in this hotel one time prior to this.  It was in 1987.  And I was working in Sacramento at the time.  And I had never,    you know, I did not do guests.  I had constantly sworn off on doing guests on the radio, because everybody else did.  And the, excuse me, local management was so insistent that I do guests that they sent me here for a week if I would do guests.  And the ABC Studios are right across the street on Desales Street, and that’s where we did the radio show for a week.  And so I lined up a bunch of guests.  I lined up George Will.  I lined up Sam Donaldson, Judge Bork, a number of other people.  And one of them that I lined up was Vitaly Churkin.  Now, back in 1987, Vitaly Churkin was a regular.  He was almost a cohost of Nightline.  And he was at the Soviet Embassy.  And he was one of these KGB guys that spoke perfect English, looked as American as anybody at Hillsdale College.  [Laughter]  R

Al-Qaeda top dog Zawahri calls Obama “house negro,” says he has “chosen a stance of hostility to Islam and Muslims”

From “magic negro” to “house negro”….  Rush Limbaugh, November 19, 2008

From JihadWatch:

His hostility to Muslims shows in his support for Israel — at least in Zawahri’s world. “Al-Qaida No. 2 insults Obama in new audio message,” by Maamoun Youssef and Lee Keath for AP, November 19 (thanks to all who sent this in):

…Al-Zawahri also called Obama—along with secretaries of state Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice—”house negroes.”Speaking in Arabic, al-Zawahri uses the term “abeed al-beit,” which literally translates as “house slaves.” But al-Qaida supplied English subtitles of his speech that included the translation as “house negroes.”…

Actually abeed means both “slave” and “black person,” so Al-Qaeda’s translation is just fine. Perhaps Adam Gadahn, if he is still alive, helped out al-Zawahri with the American idiomatic phrase.

The 11-minute 23-second video features the audio message by al-Zawahri, who appears only in a still image, along with other images, including one of Obama wearing a Jewish skullcap as he meets with Jewish leaders. In his speech, al-Zawahri refers to a Nov. 5 U.S. airstrike attack in Afghanistan, meaning the video was made after that date.Al-Zawahri said Obama’s election has not changed American policies he said are aimed at oppressing Muslims and others.

“America has put on a new face, but its heart full of hate, mind drowning in greed, and spirit which spreads evil, murder, repression and despotism continue to be the same as always,” the deputy of al-Qaida chief Osama bin Laden said.

He said Obama’s plan to shift troops to Afghanistan is doomed to failure, because Afghans will resist.

“Be aware that the dogs of Afghanistan have found the flesh of your soldiers to be delicious, so send thousands after thousands to them,” he said.

Al-Zawahri did not threaten specific attacks, but warned Obama that he was “facing a Jihadi (holy war) awakening and renaissance which is shaking the pillars of the entire Islamic world; and this is the fact which you and your government and country refuse to recognize and pretend not to see.”

He said Obama’s victory showed Americans acknowledged that President George W. Bush’s policies were a failure and that the result was an “admission of defeat in Iraq.”

But Obama’s professions of support for Israel during the election campaign “confirmed to the Ummah (Islamic world) that you have chosen a stance of hostility to Islam and Muslims,” al-Zawahri said.

President-Elect Obama’s Thuggery Has Nothing to Do with His Race

RUSH: Pop quiz time.  Pick the month, pick the day, pick the year when the teachers union pronounces that all classrooms must hang a portrait of President Obama.  No answer.  I don’t know what the answer is; only time will tell.  Okay, Snerdley is making his guess: January 20th, 2009.  Pick the month or the day — well, the month, day, and year when the teachers union pronounces all classrooms must hang a portrait of President Obama, The One. I think the last time this happened was FDR, when you had to do it.

Now, Snerdley told me an interesting story here at the top-of-the-hour break.  He got a call from a very close friend of his last night, who was very, very alarmed at what he had heard on this program yesterday.  And what he had heard on CNN last night.  He was very, very concerned. One of Snerdley’s best buds, who loves Snerdley, wants Snerdley to continue to have a place to work (laughing) is worried that they’re going to come after me at the Obama campaign.  Now, stop and think of that when you hear the rest of this.  He’s worried the Obama campaign’s going to come after me because I happened to say that Rahm Emanuel and Obama are “Chicago thugs.”  Snerdley’s buddy called him up and said, “Now, you understand, you’ve gotta tell Rush that the word ‘thug’ has racial connotations.”

Snerdley, according to his version of the story, came flying out of his couch, phone-in-hand-at-ear and said, “Is every criticism racial these days?  I’m getting sick and tired of all this political correctness and these speech codes and people trying to intimidate other people into shutting up.  Every word is racially connoted.  ‘Thug,’ when did it become racial?  And when did Rahm Emanuel become black?”  I called him a Chicago thug, too.  I thought the word “thug” actually could be traced back to union thugs.  You know, I have been talking about union thugs for the longest time I’ve been hosting this program.  All of a sudden now “thug” has racial connotations?  So here’s a guy worried that Snerdley is going to lose his job because there isn’t going to be a job because Obama’s going to come after me, and that that’s not thuggish.  More from Rush Limbaugh

Obama Wants to Bankrupt the Coal Industry

RUSH: If you happen to live in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Colorado, and even parts of Indiana, Barack Obama wants the coal industry in which you work to go bankrupt.  He intends to bankrupt it.  He also intends to cause skyrocketing energy prices.  He made these comments earlier in the year with an editorial board meeting that was recorded, the San Francisco Chronicle.  The Chronicle says they reported it.  They put it on their website.  The newspaper story they did on this did not comment on any of this.  You get the point, though, people voting for Obama, I don’t think they care anything about it.  I don’t think that the substance of who he is is relevant, otherwise he wouldn’t be above 30%.  He’s a symbol of something to a lot of people, and he’s a blank slate and they are making of Obama whatever they want him to be.  If he wins this, there is going to be some severe buyer’s remorse, and we see these guys in the media, they’re covering their rear end because if this guy goes far left, they don’t want any blame for it, “We didn’t know. We didn’t know who Obama was, only written two books, aspirational (sic) speeches, don’t know much about him, don’t know who his heroes are, don’t know who his mentors are, we don’t know anything about him,” after they’ve pushed him all of this time.  Here is Obama, this is in January of this year in an editorial board meeting with the San Francisco Chronicle.

OBAMA:  What I’ve said is that we would put a cap-and-trade system in place that is more — that is as aggressive if not more aggressive than anybody else’s out there, so if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can, it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.

RUSH:  He’s gonna bankrupt ’em, he’s got a cap-and-trade program, Algore, this is to save the planet.  He’s going to bankrupt ’em, by definition, they will bankrupt.  But that’s not, by itself, the single most damaging aspect of what he said.  This is.  More from

Obama IS “Wright”

RUSH:  That is the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, the pastor of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Obama’s pastor, the pastor Obama chose.  Now, Jeremiah Wright has been Obama’s pastor for 20 years.  Why is 20 years in Wright’s church important?  Well, let’s look at me and you.  I have been syndicated for 20 years, nationally syndicated, available to every home in America for 20 years.  Think about that.  Every one of you in this audience who have been loyal, devoted listeners for 20 years, you’ve done so for a reason:  you liked what you heard.  You liked what I said.  You liked the way I said it.  You liked it so much you kept coming back for more.  All you had to do was turn on the radio.  Okay, Barack Obama and his family attended Jeremiah Wright’s church of black liberation theology, which is Afrocentric Marxism, for 20 years.

Now, think back 20 years.  All you had to do was turn on a radio.  Obama had a little bit more effort than that.  He had to get out of bed, do the hygiene thing, get the kids ready when they came along, and head off down the street to the church.  They had to get up, get dressed, they had to drive to church, pick up the church newsletter to read later.  Twenty years.  Much like some of you have behaved over the years.  I’ve had the Rush to Excellence Tours out there where you had to do more than turn on the radio.  You had to get in your car, get dressed, pay a smidgen for a ticket — the profits go to charity — you go out there and you listen to the Rush to Excellence Tour, or public golf tournaments or whatever, Dan’s Bake Sale, you made an effort to see, you made an effort to hear, and you made an effort, at least places where I was, to meet me.  And some of you even ordered my newsletter, the Limbaugh letter, the most widely read political newspaper in America, 800-457-4141 to order.  Ahem!  Twenty years is my point here, 20 years is a long time.  800-457-4141.  Dawn said I went through the number too quickly.

Twenty years is a long time.  Twenty years is a commitment.  It says a lot about the person whom you made an effort to see and hear.  A lot is learned in 20 years.  Much is said.  You who listen to me — the all-knowing, all-caring, all-sensing, all-feeling, all-concerned El Rushbo Maha Rushie — you understand this; you can relate.  But Barack Obama, who made an effort, who chose Reverend Wright, who made an effort to go to his church every Sunday for 20 years, “I never heard him say all that stuff.”  Once again, folks, common sense and reality somehow escape Obama, and he gets away with creating an illusion that people somehow swallow.  From
